American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED
Course Description
In the American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED course, participants will master the skills necessary for administering CPR, using basic first aid and the automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants will learn how to recognize an emergency, the care steps to take, how to administer CPR, perform rescue breathing, and how to remove an airway obstruction in either a conscious or unconscious victim. They will learn how to recognize signs of a cardiac arrest, stroke, an allergic reaction, and poisoning. Participants will also be able to properly use the AED. The first aid portion of the training will educate the participants on the understanding of how to provide care to a bleeding or burn wound victim, assemble a sling, and address heat and cold-related emergencies. This course is taught through lecture, video, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on training. Participants will be expected to pass a written examination with an 80% and demonstrate competency of skills. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a CPR and AED training certificate valid for one year and a First Aid training certificate valid for three years.
