American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED Review
Course Description
In order to take the American Red Cross CPR/FA/AED review course, participants must currently be certified. If a participant’s certification has lapsed, they will be required to attend the full course. Participants will master the skills necessary for administering CPR/AED, using basic first aid. Participants will learn how to recognize an emergency, the care steps to take, how to administer CPR/AED, perform rescue breathing, and how to remove an airway obstruction in either a conscious or unconscious victim. They will learn how to recognize signs of a cardiac arrest, stroke, an allergic reaction, and poisoning. The first aid portion of the training will educate the participants on the understanding of how to provide proper care to a bleeding or burn wound victim, assemble a sling, and address heat and cold related emergencies. AED stands for Automated External Defibrillator. These machines are used to restore an effective rhythm to the heart. Each minute defibrillation is delayed reduces the chance of survival by about 10%. Employees learn how to properly employ these devices in combination with CPR. This course is taught over a three-hour period through lecture, video, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on training. Participants will be expected to pass a written examination with an 80% and demonstrate competency of skills. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a CPR/AED training certificate valid for one year and a First Aid training certificate valid for three years.
