Developmental Disabilities I (DDI)
Course Description
Staff attending Developmental Disabilities I will develop a basic understanding of the historical perspective of disabilities. One will understand the characteristics of a developmental disability, as well as what specific conditions will qualify someone as having a disability. Staff will also learn the general characteristics of Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and Autism. They will understand the importance of using universal precautions when interacting with any type of blood or bodily fluid. This course meets the DDA requirements and is taught through videos, lecture, discussions, and activities.
