OVERVIEW

LISS is funded by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and is contracted to five different agencies across the state of Maryland.

LISS Services should be based on the needs of the individual.  It is understood that needs vary, and therefore this program is designed to adapt to the individual.

Individuals requesting LISS should take into consideration their own community and the resources that community may offer.  These resources may assist with the support of the individual as well as provide community integration.

Individuals and families may choose to utilize LISS funding to:

  • Improve Quality of Life

  • Remain in their own home

  • Increase Independence

  • Participate in their Community

  • Avoid crisis situations

In an effort to serve as many families as possible, LISS is intended to be a last resort for funding and other funding sources must be exhausted prior to the distribution of LISS funds.

LISS funds can assist with any future services that have not already taken place or been purchased.  LISS can not reimburse or pay for services already occurred.  LISS is not designed to be an emergency resource.

LISS funds are intended to be used in-state: requests for out-of-state service will be reviewed by DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administrations.)

LISS funds are available through the contracted agencies on a first-come, first served basis.  There is no guarantee that funding requests will be approved.

LISS is out of funding until July 1, 2012.
Any requests received prior to July 1, 2012 will be returned.
