Maggie
Maggie always wanted to work with children and she finally got the chance in January 2006 when she started working five days a week for A Child's Place in New Freedom, Pa. The day-care center is a perfect environment for Maggie, who has a deep reservoir of patience and understanding. The children all enjoy playing with Miss Maggie. A very dedicated worker, Maggie is always there to jump in and help out whenever she's needed.
Dawn has been working at the Starbucks in Shrewsbury, P a. , since Feb. 17, 2006. Dawn is in charge of cleaning the lounge area and the outside tables. She washes dishes and helps keep shelves stocked with Starbucks products. Dawn is very meticulous and makes sure the job gets done correctly the first time. Dawn says she likes Starbucks because all the people she works with are friendly.

Holly also has also been working at Wegmans since the grocery store opened on Oct. 2, 2005. She and Jay work together in the Helping Hands department. However, the area where Holly really shines is working with people. She received the outstanding customer service award for her exceptional ability to help customers with their needs, including helping people find their cars in the store’s spacious parking lot. Holly finds that the store’s size often overwhelms first-time customers, so she helps direct them where they need to go.

Robert works at the Kena Corporation in York, Pennsylvania. He began his employment there on February 4, 2003. He began working on placing tiny pins into a small component and feeding them into a machine. Now he knows how to operate all of the different machinery. He often runs between several machines running at the same time quality checking the products they produce. Robert’s supervisor is always pleased with the high quality work that Robert completes. He is a very valuable employee. Kena Corporation is able to count on him every day for his dedication and outstanding work quality.

Patty has been working diligently at Kelly and Associates in Hunt Valley, Md., for more than 19 years. She works as part-time worker in the firm’s filing room. Patty received the Employee of the Year Award for Baltimore County in 2005. She was honored at a luncheon Oct. 19, 2005. In addition to garnering the award, Patty’s strong work ethic and sunny disposition have earned her the respect of her co-workers and her supervisor. She is an expert at finding files that no one else can locate. Her co-workers count on her to help them in the hunt and with all the filing that needs to be done. Her co-workers always say the company wouldn’t make it without Patty. She also has struck up many friendships at work.

Since May 2005, Adam has been helping dispose of trash at Penn-Mar’s facility in Glen Rock, Pa. All the production that takes place in the building leaves behind a huge number of cardboard boxes that need to be broken down and taken out to the dumpster. Adam is in charge of keeping up with this important task. When he has the cardboard under control, he helps clean other areas of the building. Adam enjoys the freedom of working independently on tasks. He also likes working in a production setting and keeping busy throughout the day.

Tim has been working for the Bank of America in Hunt Valley, Md., for more than five years. He likes working full-time hours and, like any good banker, he enjoys wearing a suit to work. Tim completes many different tasks each day at the bank. His daily duties include delivering mail to employees on his floor, checking the fax machines and making copies of packets for delivery them to his co-workers Tim’s greatest strength is his people skills. He is very outgoing and really enjoys talking to his colleagues. Tim also likes collaborating with co-workers on projects.

Jay has been working at Wegmans in Hunt Valley, Md., since the store opened on Oct. 2, 2005. He works in the Helping Hands department assisting customers with loading groceries into their cars and bringing carts back into the store for other customers. Jay recently earned the outstanding customer service award and wears his pin proudly each day. Asked why he likes his job at Wegmans, Jay said, “ I really like the Wegmans company because the people that work there are great.”

Jeff works five days a week as an assembler at Penn-Mar in Glen Rock, Pa. Jeff completes many different kinds of tool jobs – labeling, packaging and evaluating products. He maintains a high production rate and enjoys working independently without the need of a job coach. Jeff takes great pride in his work and will often boast about the number of products he has finished for the day.
