Day Program

Located in two facilities, one in Maryland Line, Maryland and the other in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, the Day/Vocational Program at Penn-Mar succeeds at delivering the following services:

Providing training opportunities with the support and assistance of professional staff promoting independence in the workplace.

Conducting formal assessments of an individual’s current vocational skill level to determine appropriate placement and employment potential.
Encouraging development of vocational skills with local businesses and prepares qualified individuals for placement in supported and competitive employment.
Developing employment skills through individualized outcome/goal planning while offering an integrated work environment with payment of competitive wages.
Meeting the needs of adults requiring more intensive supports through the Adult Developmental Training Program (ADT). This prevocational program focuses on independent living skills, personal hygiene, and communication skills, while providing opportunities for community and sensory activities.
Offering two different settings in order to individualize the program to the strengths, needs, and preferences of the participants.

Maryland Line facility provides opportunities to develop appropriate workplace behavior by teaching social and communication skills. The emphasis is on vocational training and jobs involving light assembly containing one or two steps with less focus placed on meeting production deadlines.
Glen Rock facility concentrates on skill development, earnings potential, quality of finished product, and working in an integrated work environment employing both disabled and non-disabled adults. Individuals often perform more complex production related duties requiring advanced skills in the areas of counting, packaging, sorting, and labeling.
