Life Sharing allows individuals to have an alternative to traditional group home residential services. Providers engage in a formal qualification process, which includes over 24 hours of training. Individuals participate in an extensive matching process with qualified providers, which includes numerous visits prior to permanent placement. Providers open their homes and ensure that all of the individual’s needs are met as they promote independence. Ongoing supports, training, follow-through, and monitoring are provided by Penn-Mar Human Service staff. Providers receive a monthly financial stipend to cover expenses and compensate for the care they provide to the individual.
