VOCATIONAL
Supported Employment
Penn-Mar’s supported employment program is a pathway for people interested in employment in the community. With numerous vocational opportunities before them, individuals can choose work as part of a supervised team, called an enclave, or work independently, employed directly by local businesses.
Penn-Mar staff members provide direct supervision, training and job development for each individual in our program. Based in our Maryland Line facility and serving both Maryland and Pennsylvania, Penn-Mar’s supported employment program prides itself in providing the following:
- daily, on-site skills training and job development under the supervision of qualified, professional staff members
- vocational independence through motivation, support and encouragement of staff
- supervised mobile work crews designed to provide quality services to community businesses and organizations
- development of employment skills through individualized outcome and goal planning while offering an integrated work environment with payment of competitive wages
- the Competitive Employment Program is dedicated to finding employment for individuals who are capable of working unassisted in the community and earning competitive wages.
- one-on-one job training to those individuals hired independently in the community
- dedicated staff working alongside employers to monitor individual progress and success and to monitor employees as often as needed
