WAYS TO GIVE

We thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule and choosing to donate to Penn-Mar Human Services.

All donations are used to further our mission of providing support services in our community which promote value, independence and self-determination, to families and individuals with disabilities or human service needs.

With the creation of the Penn-Mar Foundation, partnership with the York County Community Foundation (YCCF) and The Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF), donors have a variety of options for donations to assist Penn-Mar Organization and its mission.

  1. Bequests: (i.e. gifts of either cash or property provided for in a person’s Will or Living Trust) may be made in the name of Penn-Mar Organization, Penn-Mar Foundation or the Penn-Mar Human Services funds designated within the YCCF or BCF.
  2. Gift Annuity: Gift annuities may be arranged through the YCCF or BCF. (i.e. gift by a donor in the name of Penn-Mar in exchange for stipulated lifetime annual payment. Remainder of the donation goes to the charity at the donor’s death)
  3. Pooled Income Fund: An arrangement whereby a person transfers money or other property irrevocablly to a trust operated by Penn-Mar Foundation and receives a pro rata share of the net income for life. The remainder of the donor’s share of the trust after their death is available to Penn-Mar.
  4. Life Insurance gift: The assignment of life or death benefits to Penn-Mar Human Services through an insurance policy can be another avenue for a donor to directly benefit the mission of our agency.
  5. Retirement Plan Gift: is any gift that comes to Penn-Mar Human Services by way of assignment of a beneficial interest in a retirement plan by the donor.
  6. Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust: is a trust that provides for a donor to transfer property to a trustee subject to the donor’s right to receive a fixed percentage of the initial fair market value of the property for as long as the donor lives OR a term of specified years. Whatever remains in the trust at the donor’s death becomes property of Penn-Mar Human Services.

Many other vehicles of varying complexity exist to accommodate a donor’s charitable intent to benefit Penn-Mar Human Services.

While the CEO of Penn-Mar and members of the Penn-Mar Foundation may be consulted for preliminary guidance, final consultation with the donor’s personal legal and financial professionals provides assurances of proper handling of donor intent.
