We’re excited to be sharing a new series: Meet the PMs! Our Program Managers are the unsung, behind-the-scenes heroes who have one of the toughest – and most important – jobs within our organization. We’re looking forward to you all getting to know them and their work a bit better, so tune in on social media for #MeetThePMs!
Introducing . . . Andrea Carney!
Why did you become a PM? I wanted to expand on the difference I was making for the lives of each individual we support.
Why is Penn-Mar’s mission important to you? Supporting each person, as an individual. It’s important to help people find their voice, or to be an advocate for them, and to really do everything we can to help each of the individuals we support experience every life experience that they want and dream of.
What’s one thing you wish people realized about your job? There is never a “typical” day. There are never two days that are exactly the same and even if you have a plan for the day, chances are it’s going to change 15 times.
What’s one thing you wished people knew about people with IDD? They want to and can do everything anyone else can!
What’s your favorite food? Anything that Michelle Delozier [another PM!] makes!
When COVID-19 is over, the first place you’d like to travel to is . . . Aruba for my honeymoon.
In your spare time you’ll be found . . . Hanging out with my family, more specifically my pups.
Something you love: Anything Baltimore related. Sports, the Inner Harbor, Natty Boh, you name it!
