Connected and authentic learning is the foundation of our Day Learning programs. Real-world experiences are lived, and this involves engaging with one’s community.
Rather than simply working to integrate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities into their communities, we focus on true inclusion – fostering experiences and interactions that will facilitate people with disabilities achieving their personal outcomes over their lifetime.
Penn-Mar always leads with a community-based philosophy, supporting individuals to live and work in their communities. Even so, there are some people with unique needs who require specialized support, or who may prefer to take advantage of the resources available at our Day Learning locations.
Our Day Learning locations provide individuals opportunities to participate in educational and recreational activities which promote meaningful days and healthy life choices. We start with increasing the proficiency of core concepts such as daily living skills, communication, and socialization. The Day Program also provides individuals with community-based opportunities centered on their interests and preferences.
