Penn-Mar Employees receive PAR LEADing Forward Awards

Maricel Border and Kim Kucherer were each awarded a PAR LEADing Forward Award on Monday November 9th. PAR (Pennsylvania Advocacy & Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities) is a non-profit provider organization with over 100 provider members in Pennsylvania.  These member agencies, including Penn-Mar, employ more than 44,000 staff across the state.  They recently invited providers to nominate staff for PAR’s LEADing Forward Awards.

With great pride and excitement we congratulate Maricel Border and Kim Kucherer for being selected as winners of these awards.

Maricel Border, Community Activities Instructor Floater in the PA Discovery Program, was awarded the Direct Support Professional of the Year.  Maricel has worked for Penn-Mar almost 6 years.  She has experienced many changes in her job over the years and always embraces changes and new opportunities with an amazing attitude.  She offers remarkable support to individuals within the program, leading the way to ensure that people are accessing their communities in new and exciting ways.

Kim Kucherer, Residential Supervisor of our Smeltzer Road home was awarded the Front Line Manager of the Year.  Kim has worked at Penn-Mar over 16 years and she has specifically with the gentleman at Smeltzer Road for the last 5 years.  Kim is dedicated to ensuring these men meet their career and life goals.  Kim’s ability and commitment to advocating for individuals supported by Penn-Mar is inspiring.  In addition to her work as a Residential Supervisor, she also serves on Penn-Mar’s Safety Committee and was instrumental in the pilot of the Mobileye crash avoidance system.
