Penn-Mar Joins WYPR’s “On the Record” to Discuss the Importance of DD Funding

As states across the country face large budget shortfalls due to the pandemic, there is a concern that human services groups like Penn-Mar could be at risk for reduced funding. But what are those funds used for and why are they so critically important? Penn-Mar CEO Greg Miller and Jim Pitts, the founder of the Michael James Pitts Endowment for the Advancement of Direct Support Professionals, were featured on WYPR 88.1FM’s “On the Record” to discuss the issue. The 30-minute public radio program highlights why any cuts to human services organizations could leave our most vulnerable citizens without a necessary safety net and why the people who provide such vital care, Direct Support Professionals, deserve our praise.
