Penn-Mar is celebrating Direct Support Professionals (DSP) week September 8-12. Who is a Direct Support Professional (DSP)? A DSP assists individuals with developmental disabilities in caring for themselves and maintaining their independence.
DSP’s within Penn-Mar maintain trusted relationships with over 300 people with disabilities they support each day. We recognize the people we support at Penn-Mar are more likely to succeed when experienced, motivated staff provides stable and compatible support. The successes of many of the people Penn-Mar supports come from our talented and caring DSPs.
DSP’s enable people with developmental disabilities to live in their own communities by assisting them with their daily affairs and intimate needs: medications, meals, dressing, mobility, vocational training, respite care and other in-home services. As recognition week is observed, please take some time to demonstrate how much you appreciate the direct support team and the tremendous differences they make in the lives of people supported.
Throughout the entire week, Penn-Mar is recognizing all Direct Support Professionals that help individuals receiving services throughout the organization. Each of you make a tremendous difference in the lives of these individuals, and your hard work and efforts are valued.
Below is a Calendar of Events for the week.
There will be celebrations everyday in MD and PA with food and “prizes” – You won’t want to miss it! (Check the calendar for times and locations)
There will be a “BIG IDEA CONTEST”! Do you have an idea that could make Penn-Mar better? To submit your idea log into Biz Library (Penn-Mar University).
We’re looking forward to a week of FUN and CELEBRATION!
