On Sunday May 17th, the York Marathon was held in York, Pennsylvania. This 26.2 mile run covered the streets of York City as well as a portion of the Rail Trail. The Black Sheep, a running group of older people, organized “The Big Push – People Helping People” pushing people with disabilities the last three-quarter mile of the race. Individuals Penn-Mar serves were invited to participate. While it was a rainy day, each individual had a huge smile and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.  The highlight for the individuals was meeting Loretta Claiborne and receiving medals presented by her. Loretta Claiborne is an American global speaker who competes in the Special Olympics.
