June 4, 2026
Baltimore – Penn-Mar Human Services, the region’s leading provider of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is proud to announce the appointment of Audra Hurd as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
As CTO, Audra will join Penn-Mar’s executive leadership team to oversee all strategic technology functions, ensuring the nonprofit’s infrastructure remains secure, data-driven, and able to grow with the organization.
Most importantly, she will lead Penn-Mar’s Empowering Technology Initiatives, helping to put Penn-Mar at the forefront of assistive technology (AT), focusing on person-centered solutions that directly enhance the daily lives of the IDD community. By driving the expansion and integration of cutting-edge AT, she will continue Penn-Mar’s ongoing strategy of digital inclusion and create new pathways for greater independence, safety, and community connection.
“I am thrilled to join an organization that views technology as a bridge to empowerment,” says Audra. “It’s a welcome responsibility to help introduce technology that can be truly life changing for so many people. There is so much possibility out there; Penn-Mar is in a position to show other human services organizations what’s possible and back it up with real-world results.”
Audra brings more than 20 years of experience as a nonprofit technology executive, leading IT and data strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation in mission-driven organizations. She joins Penn-Mar following two decades with Paths for Families, an adoption and family well-being nonprofit, where she served as Director of IT and Operations, aligning technology infrastructure with organizational strategy.
“Technology can be transformative when you have the right people implementing it thoughtfully and effectively,” says Penn-Mar CEO Greg Miller. “Audra’s passion lies in using innovation to cultivate human connection, equitable access, and independence, while ensuring that the tools we adopt will be advantageous for the people we support and our team.”
Audra holds a bachelor’s degree in health science and an MBA from University of Maryland Global Campus and is a recognized leader in the national tech space, serving on the NTEN Board of Directors and as a 2025 Okta for Good Nonprofit Technology Fellow.
