The 31st Annual Penn-Mar Gala was held on Saturday, March 4th! We are thrilled to share that the Gala raised over $1 million, and we raised over $530K in our Special Appeal alone, which put us over the finish line for our Building Bold Futures Campaign goal of $7.5 million! If you’re currently a Penn-Mar team member, you can earn up to $2,000 for each Direct Support Professional referral and up to $3,000 for each Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional referral.
If the referred candidate is hired, you’ll be paid your referral bonus in installments that correspond with the candidate’s tenure.
Earlier this year, 18 fashion design students from Jemicy School made their way to Penn-Mar to meet their 26 future models and complete questionnaires about their fashion preferences and the challenges they were experiencing with traditional clothing. They found their way to the Runway during a May 19 livestreamed event staged at Penn-Mar.
Kristen Tracey had been looking for a job for a year and a half, sending resumes, going to businesses, speaking to managers with Tonya Stonesifer, Job Developer, but with no success. Through many twists and turns, Kristen finally landed her preferred cafe job at JeannieBird Bakery with the help of some hard work and community networking.
Vanessa Cooke was selected as the recipient of ANCOR’s 2023 DSP of the Year Award for Maryland. ANCOR, the national nonprofit association representing providers of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will presented Vanessa with her award during their annual conference, held in Chicago.
