In this role, Ray will lead Penn-Mar’s branding, messaging, content strategy, storytelling, and internal and external communications efforts.

Ray’s primary focus will be to elevate awareness of Penn-Mar and its mission—ensuring the organization’s impact is visible across Maryland and Pennsylvania and connecting with people who could benefit from its wide range of services and programs. His leadership will play a key role in deepening engagement, strengthening the organization’s voice, and connecting more people to Penn-Mar’s work in meaningful ways.

Prior to joining Penn-Mar, Ray served as Senior Director of Communications and Technology at Central Presbyterian Church, where he oversaw branding, communications strategy, staff care, and public engagement. His background also includes founding his own creative firm in 2009, which specialized in supporting nonprofits through storytelling, web and campaign development, branding, and design.

With a career rooted in the nonprofit sector, Ray brings a passion for mission-driven work and a deep commitment to advocacy, particularly for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a cause he has a personal connection to through friends and family.

Ray shares that his goal is to enhance the organization’s communications framework while remaining grounded in authenticity and community-driven messaging.

“I’m excited to help shine a light on the incredible journeys of the people we support, the dedication of our team, and the broader impact of Penn-Mar’s work,” he adds. “It’s a privilege to be part of an organization that leads with heart and purpose and is committed to making our community stronger.”
