York, Pa. – Penn-Mar Human Services, the region’s leading provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is proud to invite families, team members, and the community to the free Assistive Technology (AT) Showcase on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penn-Mar’s Far Hills location at 888 Far Hills Drive, New Freedom, Pennsylvania.

By definition, AT encompasses any item, software, or product system used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of people with disabilities. Attendees will interact with a wide range of solutions, from everyday items like smart home voice assistants and picture boards to advanced remote supports that help address regional direct care workforce shortages.

The interactive showcase kicks off at 6:30 p.m., offering guests a firsthand look at the diverse tools that promote independence, safety, and community engagement for the people Penn-Mar supports.

“Assistive technology is about empowering people to do more for themselves than they ever thought possible,” says Allis Kensing, Penn-Mar’s Enabling Technology Coordinator. “Penn-Mar is positioning itself as a leading provider of enabling technology and this showcase serves as a vital educational platform to encourage families and team members to embrace these innovative tools, helping the people Penn-Mar supports discover new pathways to independence.”

The Far Hills location is also home to Penn-Mar’s extensive AT Library collection, which features both high- and low-tech devices. Operating just like a traditional library, the collection allows people to borrow equipment to try it out and see which items work best in the real world. Penn-Mar also hosts an online AT catalog offering detailed information on devices that enhance quality of life.

Registration is required to attend this free event. Members of the public and media can secure their spot by visiting the official RSVP page.
