Each month, we’ll be highlighting a “behind-the-scenes” team member whose work supports our mission, but whose face you might not often see on our social media pages.
We’re excited to help you get to know our innovative team and the complex work we do.
Tune in each month for our #TeamMemberSpotlight!
Lisa Heim, Accounts Payable Clerk
What’s been your career path at Penn-Mar? I started out as a DSP, then Shift Supervisor for 5 years, and now for almost 6 years Accounts Payable Clerk.
What’s an average day like for you? I am a spoke in the wheel of the Finance Team. I process all invoices related to the Penn-Mar buildings and the houses. I also process Visa, Expense Vouchers, and LISS checks.
What’s one thing you wish people realized about your job? Things take time . . . We have processes that are in place to make sure that we are paying things correctly. It helps when items are turned in on time as this helps get things processed quicker.
In another life, your career path is . . . Special Education teacher.
Why is Penn-Mar’s mission important to you? Well, I have a family member with IDD. I helped take care of him for several years. He is now a resident of Penn-Mar. He is so very special to our family! Here he has a Program Manager with so much commitment to his happiness and wellbeing, a Nurse with a heart bigger than you can imagine, and staff that are devoted to his happiness and care.
What’s one thing you wished people knew about people with IDD? How much fun the people we support are!!!!! They make you laugh and are often very loving!
What’s your favorite food? I think it would be lasagna and red velvet cake with cream cheese icing!
Any hidden talents? I’m a Spider Solitaire Champion!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, you’d visit . . . Scotland.
In your spare time, you’ll be found . . . Enjoying time with family and boating.
What TV show are you currently bingeing? I love to watch Outlander.
We heard you’re the best GiGi around . . . My husband and I have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and one on the way! I love being a GiGi!
