Generous donors help Penn-Mar achieve greatness in the service of others.
While I was working with our production team this past week to film a video for our March Gala, I couldn’t help but think that the reason the Penn-Mar story never gets stale is because it changes every day!
When we hear or write about the lives and accomplishments of the people we support, or about the dedication, generosity and creativity of the people who support them, that’s just “the story” for today. Tomorrow we can count on there being new people, changing circumstances, and unexpected gifts that will begin a new and different narrative.
I could cite countless examples of individuals who make up the Penn-Mar community who are wrapping their arms around our mission to support people with intellectual disabilities to live courageously in pursuit of their best life.
And “Together We Can” make those lives even better.
We’ve chosen that theme of unity to galvanize our End of Year Giving Campaign, where we are asking donors to consider investing their charitable resources in some of the bold initiatives we have committed to in our new Strategic Plan. These are thoughtful and intentional strategies that are not funded through the basic support provided by government funding.
Our mission challenges us to continually do better, be better and commit to being a leading force in the transformation of services provided to people with disabilities.
Donor contributions are what enable us to go above-and-beyond and significantly impact our ability to create new and innovative processes and supports that are changing the lives of the men and women we serve. It also allows us to invest in our team as we all pursue courageous living!
In last month’s Blog, I identified four key areas in our Strategic Plan where we will be focusing our energies over the next few years. These include:
New technologies will help us give the people we support greater independence and enhanced services.
A mission-based culture will provide the strong foundation needed to motivate, energize, attract and attain team members who are totally invested in the promise of Penn-Mar.
Our merger with Change, Inc. in 2019 has strengthened our culture and capabilities. We want to be intentionally positioned to pursue future partnerships where the outcome for people with disabilities is enhanced.
And developing new models of support will require an open mind to new innovations in the broader marketplace that can directly enhance our mission.
Our Building Bold Futures campaign was an extraordinary example of individual donations delivering a record-breaking groundswell of support.
Behind each donation was a person, or persons, who understood our mission and chose to become part of our very special community.
Each person we support, each team member, family member, and community partner is a vital link within our circle.
Together we make each other stronger.
YOU make us stronger.
We are so grateful to the friends of Penn-Mar who continually answer the call to help us achieve greatness in the service of others.
We are grateful and blessed beyond measure.
