October 24, 2018

Baltimore, MD – In honor of National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, Penn-Mar Human Services will welcome hundreds of friends, family, and supporters on March 2nd for the 27th annual Black Tie Gala. This signature fundraising event, which raised over $750,00 last year, supports men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland and Pennsylvania, sustaining Pen-Mar’s mission of “transforming life into living”.

A tradition since 1992, the Black Tie Gala will be held on the first Saturday of March at the Delta Hotels by Marriott located in Hunt Valley, Maryland, but once they arrive, they’ll embark on a worldwide culinary journey!  This year’s theme is “Passport to the World, A Perfect Pairing of Fine Wine and Cuisine”, featuring globally-inspired cuisine and wine. Guests will experience a multi-course dinner with flavors from around the world, paired with celebrated varietals and craft cocktails. Don’t forget the wonderful live music, dancing, and both a live and silent auctions—a highlight of this annual event! Past auction items have included a private-jet excursion to tour the Jack Daniels distillery in Tennessee, a one-week luxury Myrtle Beach vacation, Walt Disney World family getaways, all-inclusive Napa Valley wine tours, and much more! And all of the proceeds Penn-Mar’s incredible services.

“The Black Tie Gala is one of those events that continues to top itself each year,” says Greg Miller, president and CEO of Penn-Mar Human Services. “The generosity of our guests, sponsors, and contributors is simply beyond words and this event is our way of saying ‘thanks’ to each of them. Quite simply, if we didn’t have their support, many of the services we provide would never be possible.”

Chaired by Wendy Gallo, who’s son receives services from Penn-Mar, the Black Tie Gala is one of the Baltimore region’s signature fundraising events of the year. Support for this event and for Penn-Mar as a whole, promotes the organization’s mission to lift up adults with IDD, granting empowerment, transformation and most importantly, equality. This year’s honorees are Tony and Stef Campisi, long-time supporters of Penn-Mar and the gala event. As community leaders in York, PA, the couple has employed several Penn-Mar individuals and continually exemplifies Penn-Mar’s core values.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and individual tickets for the gala can be purchased online at penn-mar.org/black-tie-gala. For additional details regarding sponsorships or ticketing, please contact Jackie Summers at 410-343-1069 x286 or at jsummers@penn-mar.org.
